INDONESIA, RAKYAT NEWS – Renowned global investor Ray Dalio participated as a speaker in a training session for prospective ministers in Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet on October 16.

Ray Dalio is an American billionaire investor, hedge fund manager, and philanthropist, best known as the founder of Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest and most successful hedge funds.

He established the firm in 1975 and is renowned for his principles-based approach to investing and management, which he outlines in his book “Principles: Life and Work.” Dalio is also known for his insights on global macroeconomic trends and has been influential in discussions about economic policy and investing strategies. In addition to his financial career, he actively engages in philanthropy and education initiatives.

The session was conducted virtually.
Dalio’s presentation, titled “What Would I Do If I Were In Your Shoes,” was part of a two-day training program aimed at equipping future ministers with crucial insights.

The event took place at the Hambalang retreat, a venue chosen for its conducive environment for discussion and learning.

Other notable speakers included international relations scholar John Mearsheimer, who discussed global geopolitical dynamics, and Hunter Lee Soik, who focused on strategies for doubling Indonesia’s GDP within a decade. These topics were essential for the ministers to understand the broader context of their roles.

During his segment, Dalio addressed the topic “Why Nations Succeed and Fail,” offering valuable perspectives on economic policies and governance. His insights were particularly relevant for Indonesia as it seeks to strengthen its position in the global economy.

The first day of the training was dedicated to prospective ministers, while the second day will focus on potential deputy ministers. This structured approach allows for targeted discussions tailored to the specific responsibilities of each group.

The agenda for the training included discussions on various pressing issues, such as global geopolitics, political communication, and anti-corruption strategies. These topics are crucial for fostering effective governance in the face of modern challenges.

Minister of Minority Affairs in India, Smriti Irani, concluded the session with insights on communication skills, emphasizing the importance of clear and effective messaging in government. This training aims to prepare officials for the complexities of their future roles.

Participants noted that Prabowo Subianto emphasized the significance of collaboration and maintaining a corruption-free government during the sessions. Abdul Mu’ti, Secretary-General of Muhammadiyah, highlighted key topics covered, including food security and economic growth.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to prepare the incoming administration for effective governance as Indonesia looks to navigate complex global challenges. The training reflects a commitment to building a capable leadership team ready to tackle the nation’s priorities. (Uki Ruknuddin)
