SINGAPORE, RAKYAT NEWS– Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryopratomo, took center stage as a panelist during the “Investment Opportunities in India and ASEAN” session at the World Opportunities Forum (WOF) 2024, held at the Fullerton Hotel, Singapore.

During the event, Ambassador Suryopratomo outlined Indonesia’s commitment to transitioning towards a green economy.

He emphasized the government’s long-term goals, including achieving a 60% renewable energy mix by 2045, promoting eco-friendly transportation, and implementing a circular economy approach across industries and communities.

Indonesia, known for its rich natural resources, is focusing on downstream industries to add value, particularly in nickel—a critical component for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The Ambassador highlighted how these resources, coupled with a supportive ecosystem, present significant business opportunities in renewable energy, EV production, and sustainable practices.

The Indonesian government has also introduced various regulations and fiscal incentives to drive the green economy, with a particular focus on green vehicles, carbon markets, and renewable energy.

Ambassador Suryopratomo noted that these policies, initiated under President Joko Widodo, will continue under the leadership of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

The panel also featured distinguished speakers, including High Commissioners from India and Malaysia, Ambassador-at-large Ong Keng Yong, Executive Deputy Chairman R. S. S. of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), and Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Director of the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies. They discussed the vast investment opportunities in ASEAN and India.
