MAKASSAR, RAKYAT NEWS – The Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) has recorded a total of 12,280 cases of tuberculosis (TB) discovered during the period from January to May 2024 in Sulsel.

This was revealed by the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division (P2P) of the South Sulawesi Provincial Health Office, Muhammad Yusri Yunus, while presenting an analysis of the TB situation in Sulsel during a dissemination event on TB reporting to communities in 24 cities and regencies at the Continent Centrepoint Hotel Makassar earlier this week.

“Suspected cases in Sulsel are at 34.2 percent of the target. During the period from January to May 2024, a total of 12,280 TB cases have been found in Sulsel,” he said.

He stated that treatment measures are ongoing, emphasizing the importance of screening to prevent the spread of cases.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Kareba Baji Sulsel Foundation, Chandra Mustamin, stated that a total of 672 complaints from the public have been received through the TB Reporting dashboard from October 2022 to February 2024.

The majority of complaints are related to counseling for TB patients at 68 percent. Followed by enabler complaints at 13 percent, stigma and discrimination at 11 percent, and service access at 8 percent.

“From the distribution of complaints, there are 20 complaints from South Sulawesi,” he said.

He explained that the TB Reporting is a complaint channel based on applications and websites. This activity aims to introduce and socialize the use of the TB Reporting application and website.
