GOWA, RAKYAT NEWS – The Makassar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim Makassar) has officially received the handover of a foreign national identified as MT (27), a Pakistani citizen, from the Class I Immigration Office (Kanim) TPI Kendari.

The handover and detention were carried out as part of the deportation process for the individual, who was found to have violated immigration regulations by overstaying his visa.

MT, a 27-year-old Pakistani national, had been living in Kendari for approximately four years. During his time in Indonesia, he settled down and started a family in the area. Despite his status, MT managed to earn a living by working as a construction laborer and an online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) driver to support his wife and child.

Head of Rudenim Makassar, Rudy Prasetyo, confirmed that MT is currently being detained at the Makassar Immigration Detention Center. “We received the detainee MT from the Kendari Immigration Office today, November 9, 2025. The detention process will continue while we prepare and wait for all the necessary documents and administrative procedures required for MT’s deportation to his home country,” he stated.

According to immigration authorities, MT was found to have violated Indonesian immigration laws by exceeding the duration of his permitted stay, a violation commonly known as overstay. This infraction is considered a serious breach of Indonesia’s immigration regulations and can result in deportation and a ban on re-entry for a specified period.

Before being handed over to Rudenim Makassar, MT had reportedly attempted to evade immigration officers who were investigating his case. He was eventually detained at the Class I Immigration Office TPI Kendari starting from October 27, 2025, until the day of his transfer to Makassar on November 9, 2025.
