JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Star Energy Geothermal, a subsidiary of PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), has formed a partnership with global energy technology company SLB to advance the development of geothermal energy assets. This collaboration aims to accelerate the application of advanced technologies to improve the efficiency and economic viability of geothermal projects managed by Star Energy Geothermal.

Currently, Star Energy Geothermal operates a total installed capacity of 886 megawatts (MW) from geothermal energy. The partnership with SLB is expected to help optimize the performance of these geothermal assets, making them more cost-effective and sustainable in the long term.

SLB, a global leader in energy innovation, brings its cutting-edge technology to enhance the exploration and development of geothermal resources. This collaboration focuses on implementing technologies that address key challenges in geothermal energy, including subsurface characterization, drilling, and production.

The partnership combines Star Energy Geothermal’s expertise in geothermal development with SLB’s technological advancements. By leveraging both companies’ strengths, the collaboration seeks to improve the economic feasibility of conventional geothermal projects and increase the recovery rate of geothermal assets.

Hendra Soetjipto Tan, CEO of Star Energy Geothermal and President Director of Barito Renewables, expressed confidence that the collaboration with SLB would overcome technical challenges in the geothermal industry. He emphasized that the partnership would play a crucial role in transforming the economics of geothermal projects, particularly in terms of improving asset recovery and cost efficiency.
