New Coaching Trio: Patrick Kluivert Brings Dutch Experts Pastoor and Landzaat to Strengthen Indonesia’s Football
JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – A new chapter begins for Indonesia’s national football team with Patrick Kluivert appointed as head coach. To enhance the team’s strategy and growth, Kluivert has enlisted two highly experienced Dutch coaches, Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, as assistant coaches. Their expertise promises to elevate the Garuda team’s performance on the international stage.
Alex Pastoor, born in Amsterdam on October 26, 1966, is renowned for his success in helping smaller teams rise through the ranks of Dutch football. Beginning his coaching career in 2001 with the U-19 team of AZ Alkmaar, he quickly transitioned to senior coaching, taking charge of AFC’34 in 2005. Pastoor gained widespread recognition in 2010 when he led Excelsior to promotion to the Eredivisie and repeated the feat with Sparta Rotterdam in 2015-2016.
His ability to read team dynamics and devise effective strategies, especially in high-pressure environments, will be invaluable for Kluivert’s staff. Pastoor’s proven track record in team promotions and development is expected to be instrumental in improving the overall competitiveness of the Indonesian squad.
Denny Landzaat, born May 6, 1976, in Amsterdam, is celebrated for his distinguished career as a top-tier footballer, playing for major clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, AZ Alkmaar, and the Dutch national team. After retiring as a player, Landzaat transitioned into coaching, focusing on youth teams. Between 2014 and 2018, he managed AZ Alkmaar’s U-17 and U-21 teams, developing young talent and refining their skills.
In 2024, Landzaat joined Ferencvaros as an assistant coach. His extensive international experience as both a player and coach will provide the Indonesia national team with the mental resilience and technical expertise needed for higher-level competition. His familiarity with Indonesian culture and language is another significant asset for his role.
Pastoor and Landzaat’s inclusion provides Kluivert with a strategic advantage, combining Pastoor’s experience in team promotions with Landzaat’s expertise in youth development. Their partnership aims to bring both short-term improvements and long-term growth to the national team.
Their experience in European football will be key in helping Indonesia compete at a higher level. The trio’s collaboration is expected to establish a solid foundation for the future of Indonesian football, ensuring sustained progress and success.
Kluivert, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), explained the rationale behind his decision to bring Pastoor and Landzaat on board. He highlighted their professionalism and strong working relationship, built on past coaching experiences.
In an interview with De Telegraaf, Kluivert emphasized the positive connection he shares with Pastoor, noting his successful stint at Almere City. “Alex showed he is a professional, and his skills are exactly what we need,” Kluivert said, confident that their partnership would benefit the team’s development.
In the coming months, Kluivert and his assistants will work closely with the players to refine their skills, foster team chemistry, and instill a winning mentality. With the support of Pastoor’s strategic insights and Landzaat’s youth development focus, Indonesia’s national team is poised to make significant strides in international football. Fans eagerly await the team’s progress under this new leadership. (Uki Ruknuddin)
