Ina Lepel, the German Ambassador to Indonesia, underscored that the debt conversion is a meaningful step in the long-standing cooperative relationship between the two countries. The agreement will contribute to Indonesia’s broader public health objectives, enabling better access to healthcare and supporting the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

This debt-to-health swap is also aligned with Indonesia’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to health. The initiative aims to end the spread of AIDS, TBC, and malaria by 2030, as well as combat hepatitis and other infectious diseases, marking a significant step toward improving health outcomes for Indonesia’s population.
