JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi), in collaboration with Microsoft Indonesia, has launched ElevAIte Indonesia. This ambitious initiative aims to train one million Indonesians in artificial intelligence (AI) skills, paving the way for a more digitally adept nation.

According to Dharma Simorangkir, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, the program name combines “elevate” and “AI,” symbolizing a collective effort to uplift Indonesia’s global standing through comprehensive AI utilization. “This collaboration embodies the spirit of multi-sector partnerships to enhance Indonesia’s achievements on the global stage through AI technology,” Simorangkir said during the launch event, streamed on Kemkomdigi TV.

ElevAIte Indonesia brings together stakeholders from government, industries, educational institutions, and communities. Its objective is to connect Indonesian talent with new opportunities driven by AI, enhancing productivity, creativity, and job quality while promoting responsible innovation.

A 2024 report by Microsoft and LinkedIn underscores the growing significance of AI skills in Indonesia. It revealed that 69% of employers prioritize candidates with AI expertise, while 76% are willing to overlook limited work experience if a candidate demonstrates AI proficiency. With 70% of Indonesia’s population in its productive age, equipping them with AI skills is seen as a cornerstone for achieving the nation’s vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

The initiative emphasizes the responsible use of AI, from improving workplace efficiency to crafting innovative solutions for national challenges. Simorangkir highlighted the importance of collaborating with Kemkomdigi and ecosystem partners to equip one million Indonesians with AI skills by 2025. Key collaborators include Biji-Biji Initiative and Dicoding, focusing on five strategic pillars.
