JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS– The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has partnered with the Swiss government, through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), to conduct a specialized training program on mini-grid systems.

This initiative is aimed at advancing the development of renewable energy sources (RES) in Indonesia.

The training, held from September 2 to 13, focused on enhancing the skills of 15 lecturers from seven selected polytechnics.

The program covered various aspects of mini-grid systems, including design, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy-based power plants.

Susetyo Edi Prabowo, Head of the Human Resources Development Center for Electricity, New and Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (PPSDM KEBTKE) at ESDM, highlighted the training’s goal of improving the lecturers’ ability to teach and prepare course materials related to mini grids.

He emphasized the significance of mini grids as an innovative solution to increase energy access in remote areas of Indonesia.

During the two-week program, participants received intensive training from Thomas Gross, a lecturer from ETH Zurich, and Valentina Camponovo from HYCON GmBH, Switzerland.

The program also included field visits to key facilities such as PLN Pusharlis, PLTMH Gunung Halu, and CV Protel Multi Energy, allowing the lecturers to gain practical insights into mini-grid implementation.

The collaboration between Indonesia and Switzerland underscores their commitment to supporting the transition to renewable energy in Indonesia, with a primary focus on enhancing the quality and relevance of human resources in the energy sector. (Uki Ruknuddin).
