JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, has called on Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, to expand its investment footprint in Indonesia. He emphasized Temasek’s pivotal role in supporting the country’s economic growth, particularly through its capital contributions to Indonesian startups.

The Indonesian government, Airlangga said, is fully committed to supporting Temasek’s investment growth. He assured that Indonesia remains open to foreign investment, especially in strategic sectors such as infrastructure, green energy, and digital transformation.

These messages were delivered during a high-level meeting between Airlangga and Temasek’s Chairman, Lee Theng Kiat. The two leaders discussed strengthening collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore, especially in the fields of renewable energy and the broader energy transition agenda.

Airlangga expressed appreciation for Temasek’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development in Indonesia. He highlighted the progress made by Sembcorp Urban, a Temasek subsidiary, in building green industrial zones in West Java and Batam earlier in 2025.

Chairman Lee welcomed the Indonesian government’s support and reaffirmed Temasek’s long-term commitment to Indonesia. He underscored that Indonesia remains a key partner in Southeast Asia, offering both scale and opportunity for future investments.

Temasek, established in 1974, is wholly owned by the Singaporean government and manages a globally diversified portfolio. Its investment interests span multiple sectors, including finance, telecommunications, technology, energy, and healthcare.

In Indonesia, Temasek already holds substantial investments in several major companies. These include Telkomsel, Siloam Hospitals, DBS Bank, and Sembcorp Industries, reflecting the depth of its engagement in the local economy.
