MANADO, RAKYAT NEWS – The launch of AirAsia’s new flight route between Manado and Kinabalu, Malaysia, is anticipated to significantly boost tourism in North Sulawesi. This new connection, which commenced operations today, is seen as a major step in enhancing the region’s tourism and economic prospects.

The direct flight aims to increase tourist arrivals and investment in the province, according to Steve Kepel, Secretary of the North Sulawesi Provincial Government.

Kepel expressed enthusiasm for the new route, emphasizing its potential to strengthen ties between North Sulawesi and Malaysia.

He also noted that both the Governor and Vice Governor of North Sulawesi are supportive of AirAsia’s efforts to increase visitor numbers. The new flight is expected to complement existing routes from Jakarta and Denpasar, further integrating North Sulawesi into international travel networks.

AirAsia Malaysia’s Director of Government Relations and ASEAN Affairs, Zamani Mohd Rafique, highlighted that the airline’s expansion aligns with its commitment to supporting tourism growth.

The addition of the Manado-Kinabalu route reflects AirAsia’s broader strategy to enhance its international network, with Kinabalu now featuring 13 international routes.
