The award ceremony took place in Jakarta on Friday, August 23, 2024.

Laksana Tri Handoko, Head of BRIN, expressed his pleasure at the diversity of the award recipients, noting that they hail from both public and private universities across Central Indonesia.

“It is truly gratifying to see outstanding talent recognized not only from state universities on Java but also from private institutions outside Java,” Handoko remarked.

The Sarwono Award 2024 was awarded to Professor Bens Pardamean from Binus University, Jakarta, for his significant contributions to artificial intelligence research.

The Sarwono Prawirohardjo Memorial Lecture 2024 was presented to Professor Trina Ekawati Tallei from Sam Ratulangi University, Manado.

“Congratulations to Professor Bens Pardamean and Professor Trina Ekawati Tallei for their remarkable achievements,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Pardamean thanked his team and Nvidia for supporting his research, which led to this prestigious award. He expressed hope that the recognition would inspire young researchers to further their work for the benefit of Indonesia.

The Sarwono Awards, established in 2001, honor the legacy of Professor Dr. Sarwono Prawirohardjo, the first Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), for his contributions to Indonesian science.
