Vale Indonesia Praised for Setting Global Standard in Sustainable Mining

SOROWAKO, RAKYAT NEWS— The acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, praised the mining practices of Vale Indonesia Inc or PT Vale Indonesia after visiting its mining, reclamation, and nursery areas on Saturday (3/8/2024).

The brief visit left a strong impression of Vale. Zudan urged the community and stakeholders to follow Vale’s example in environmental stewardship.

“God has blessed us with natural wealth. All the goodness we take from the earth must be returned, as PT Vale has done,” said Zudan.

He confidently stated that Vale Indonesia has the potential to become a major global mining company from South Sulawesi. ” Vale has the potential to set global standards in mining. I encourage Vale to remain committed to excellence, from South Sulawesi to the world,” he explained.

Zudan concluded his visit by planting a tree in the nursery area. He praised Vale’s tree-planting culture and encouraged the community and stakeholders to adopt this practice.

“The tree planting aligns with one of our provincial programs, aimed at environmental preservation and planetary health. We fully support Vale’s programs, as they significantly benefit environmental and community sustainability,” he explained.

He emphasized that Vale not only cares for the environment but also contributes to community empowerment in areas such as health, education, and economic development in Luwu Timur or East Luwu

“Such efforts should be promoted as a model for mining management in Indonesia. This way, the public gains a new perspective on mining, seeing it as compatible with environmental preservation, thanks to Vale’s exemplary practices,” he concluded.
