JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has announced that the country has achieved self-sufficiency in poultry and eggs and has started exporting its surplus to several countries.

“With pleasure, I report that Indonesia has reached self-sufficiency in poultry and eggs and has begun exporting the surplus,” said Sulaiman in a statement in Jakarta

During a recent working visit to Vietnam, Amran met with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Vietnam and business leaders from the TH Group in Hanoi. Although he highlighted the achievement, he did not disclose the exact volume of the surplus.

Additionally, he noted that the Indonesian government is intensifying efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in rice amid climate change challenges, such as droughts and floods.

“Indonesia aims to become a global food supplier by 2033. Increasing food production is crucial to achieving this goal,” he stated.

The Ministry of Agriculture reports that Indonesia exports poultry and eggs to countries including Japan, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Myanmar, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Qatar, the UAE, and Benin.

He also mentioned that, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the export value of poultry and eggs has increased over the past three years.
