Waskita Karya Persero Tbk, commonly known as Waskita Karya, is a state-owned construction company based in Indonesia. “Persero” stands for “Perseroan Terbatas,” which translates to “Limited Liability Company” in English, indicating its corporate structure.

Established in 1961, Waskita Karya plays a pivotal role in the development of infrastructure across Indonesia. The company is involved in various construction projects, including toll roads, bridges, dams, airports, and other public infrastructure facilities. It operates under the supervision of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia.

Fortune Southeast Asia 500 ranks companies based on their substantial contributions to the region’s economic growth. According to the latest report released in June 2024, Waskita Karya reported a total revenue of $719.5 million USD (equivalent to approximately Rp 10.9 trillion) and boasts assets totaling $6.21 billion USD (around Rp 95.6 trillion).

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, expressed gratitude for the global acknowledgment received by Waskita Karya. He credited this achievement to the company’s diligent efforts and transformative strategies implemented under its leadership.

“This recognition solidifies the role of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) as the engines driving Indonesia’s economy forward,” Erick affirmed in a recent Instagram post. He emphasized that Waskita Karya’s success should serve as inspiration for all BUMN employees to continue their hard work in serving the nation and its people.

Corporate Secretary of Waskita Karya, Ermy Puspa Yunita, highlighted the company’s dedication to enhancing financial performance and ensuring sustainable growth. “We are proud to be recognized among Southeast Asia’s top construction firms, especially during our ongoing restructuring efforts. This accolade will further strengthen our resolve to excel,” Ermy remarked in a written statement.

Currently, Waskita Karya is focused on implementing robust governance practices and digital innovations to enhance operational resilience. The company has bolstered its IT governance and digital construction capabilities, utilizing advanced Dashboard Management applications to integrate strategic decision-making across all operational facets.

Ermy also outlined Waskita Karya’s pivotal role in national infrastructure development, with nearly 100 ongoing projects contributing to the construction of toll roads, dams, power plants, and various non-toll infrastructure across Indonesia. Notable projects include the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu Toll Road, Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road, Tapin Dam, and Raknamo Dam.

Moreover, Waskita Karya plays a crucial role in 12 projects under the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) initiative, with contracts totaling Rp 13.6 trillion, of which Waskita’s share amounts to Rp 7.5 trillion.
