JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS — AirAsia to inaugurate a direct international flight connecting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, starting September 3, 2024, aim at enhancing tourism connectivity between the two nations.

The new route, will operating three times a week, marks AirAsia Malaysia’s (flight code AK) first international flight to Labuan Bajo.

“Labuan Bajo and Kuala Lumpur, two cities from different countries yet bound closely by natural beauty, cultural richness, and promising economic opportunities,” said Veranita Yosephine, CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, in a statement in Jakarta

She mentioned that AirAsia’s direct flights will provide easy access for Malaysian tourists to explore Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park. Meanwhile, Indonesian tourists can visit the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“The blend of Malay, Indian, Chinese, and Arab cultures creates a fascinating cultural mosaic in both cities. Connectivity, tourism, and economy are the three main pillars strengthening the relationship between Labuan Bajo and Kuala Lumpur,” added Veranita.

Currently, AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) serves 13 routes in Indonesia from Kuala Lumpur to Kertajati, Banda Aceh, Jakarta, Denpasar, Medan, Padang, Pekanbaru, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Balikpapan; and from Penang to Jakarta and Medan.

Meanwhile, Indonesia AirAsia (flight code QZ) operates 11 routes in Malaysia from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching; Bali to Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu; Medan to Kuala Lumpur and Penang; Lombok to Kuala Lumpur; and from Surabaya to Johor Bahru.

To celebrate the new route starting on September 3, 2024, AirAsia is offering complimentary seats with all-in fares available for booking on AirAsia MOVE (formerly airasia Superapp) and airasia.com from Saturday (July 6) until July 14, 2024, for travel between September 3, 2024, and March 29, 2025.
