JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has detained 220 foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration regulations during Operation Wirawaspada, a nationwide enforcement action conducted simultaneously from December 10 to 12, 2025.

During the operation, immigration officers carried out a total of 2,298 inspection and monitoring activities across the country. The operation focused on ensuring compliance with immigration laws, particularly among foreign nationals working or residing in Indonesia under various permit schemes.

Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman said the largest number of alleged violators came from the People’s Republic of China, with 114 individuals detained. They were followed by nationals of Nigeria (16), India (14), South Korea (11), and Pakistan (8). “The most common violations involved misuse of stay permits, recorded in 92 cases, followed by overstaying in 32 cases, and other types of violations involving 34 individuals,” Yuldi said.

In parallel, the Directorate General of Immigration also conducted the Bhumipura Sakti Wirawasti Mining Operation, focusing on immigration supervision in major industrial and mining areas. One of the main inspection sites was PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), where immigration checks were carried out on 14,128 foreign nationals.

Strict inspections were implemented at the Fatufia Jetty Port and the IMIP Special Airport, in accordance with standard operating procedures jointly applied with other agencies, including Quarantine Services and Customs. Records showed 142 vessels with 2,785 foreign crew members in September, 136 vessels with 2,715 crew members in October, and 130 vessels with 2,445 crew members in November.

As a follow-up measure, Immigration authorities summoned tenants, contractors, and foreign nationals found to have committed violations within the IMIP area for further examination at the Directorate General of Immigration.

Similar supervision was carried out at PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), where inspections covered 26,650 foreign nationals. Immigration checks were conducted at Weda Bay Port and the IWIP Special Airport, both of which also apply joint SOPs with Quarantine and Customs authorities.

At Weda Bay Port, records showed 32 vessels with 588 foreign crew members passing through during the November–December period. As with IMIP, Immigration authorities have summoned tenants, contractors, and foreign nationals suspected of violations at IWIP for further investigation.

Meanwhile, in the Bangka Belitung region, authorities uncovered large-scale operations of sand suction vessels operating in Rambak Beach waters. These activities involved foreign nationals, mainly Thai citizens, working as crew members. A total of 32 partner companies were recorded as operating around 37 vessels with approximately 202 foreign nationals. Investigators also found foreign nationals allegedly involved in tin ingot production at PT MGR, performing technical machine operation roles that were suspected to be inconsistent with their stay permits. Immigration has summoned PT MGR, PT IMP, and PT PSS to clarify the presence and activities of these foreign nationals.

“We are firmly committed to taking decisive action against any immigration violations to safeguard sovereignty and public order in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia,” Yuldi emphasized. “Law enforcement measures and further examinations will continue in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.”.(Uki/Andi Fatur)
