Historic Talks: President Prabowo Holds Key Meeting with Saudi Arabia’s MBS
JEDDAH, RAKYAT NEWS – President Prabowo Subianto was warmly received by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday (July 2). The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
Upon arrival, President Prabowo was greeted by Prince MBS, who personally welcomed him at the palace entrance. The two leaders shook hands and walked side by side, engaging in informal discussions before proceeding to the official welcoming ceremony.
The ceremony featured the national anthems of both countries—*Indonesia Raya* and Saudi Arabia’s *Aash Al-Malik*—symbolizing mutual respect. The event, broadcast by Indonesia’s Presidential Secretariat, highlighted the diplomatic significance of the visit.
Following the ceremony, President Prabowo and Prince MBS held a private meeting to discuss bilateral cooperation, explore new collaborative opportunities, and address strategic regional and global issues. The closed-door talks underscored the deepening partnership between the two nations.
President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and emphasized the importance of the visit, stating, “This meeting reflects the strong personal and strategic relationship between our leaders.” The discussions also touched on Indonesia’s Hajj programs and Middle East stability.
After their private talks, the leaders chaired the first session of the newly established Saudi-Indonesian Supreme Coordination Council. The high-level delegation meeting included ministers and officials from both countries, focusing on key areas such as trade, energy, and defense.
Indonesia’s delegation comprised Coordinating Minister for Food Security Zulkifli Hasan, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Religious Affairs Minister Prof. Nasaruddin Umar, and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, among others. Saudi Arabia’s representatives included Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
