JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism has highlighted wellness tourism as a key attraction at the country’s pavilion during the Osaka World Expo 2025. The initiative aims to promote Indonesia’s diverse traditional health and wellness offerings to a global audience.

From May 26 to 31, 2025, the Indonesian pavilion featured a range of activities, including demonstrations of traditional therapies, aromatherapy workshops, and tastings of herbal drinks like *jamu*. The event was organized in collaboration with local partners such as Rumah Atsiri Indonesia, Mustika Ratu, and Taman Wisata Candi (TWC).

Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy Minister for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, stated that Indonesia’s participation in the expo significantly boosted the country’s profile in specialized tourism sectors, including wellness, gastronomy, and marine tourism. The pavilion reportedly attracted around 100,000 visitors during its six-day run.

One of the highlights was a workshop titled *“Essence of Indonesia: Crafting Memories through Aromatic Journeys,”* held from May 29 to 31. Participants from Japan, South Africa, Hong Kong, and India learned how to create traditional Indonesian body mists using locally sourced essential oils.

The ministry also organized the *“Business Matching Japan 2025”* event in Tokyo and Osaka, connecting 11 Indonesian tourism businesses with 30-40 Japanese industry representatives. The initiative, supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Garuda Indonesia, and the ASEAN-Japan Centre, is projected to generate $8.68 million in potential revenue.

Yulia, Assistant Deputy for International Tourism Marketing, emphasized that the expo participation aligns with Indonesia’s goal of welcoming 395,000 Japanese tourists in 2025. “Events like this serve as a catalyst to increase visitor numbers,” she said.
