JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – President Prabowo Subianto formally received letters of credence from eight newly appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors to Indonesia at a ceremony held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

This official event marks one of President Prabowo’s early engagements with the international diplomatic community since taking office, signaling Indonesia’s continued commitment to strong and dynamic international relations.

Among the diplomats presenting their credentials was Luis Guillermo Arellano Jibaja, the Ambassador Designate of the Republic of Ecuador to Indonesia. His appointment is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation between Ecuador and Indonesia in areas such as trade, culture, and environmental sustainability.

Enrique Antonio Acuña Mendoza also presented his credentials as the new Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. His presence is anticipated to bring renewed vigor to the ties between Jakarta and Caracas, particularly in energy and economic diplomacy.

Italy was represented by Ambassador Roberto Colaminè, who is tasked with deepening the longstanding relationship between Italy and Indonesia, which spans sectors from infrastructure development to education and tourism.

Ambassador Philip Nathan Taula of New Zealand emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships in agriculture, education, and regional security. Indonesia and New Zealand have shared a close relationship as fellow members of the Asia-Pacific community.

Ramil Rzayev Abil Oglu, the new Ambassador of Azerbaijan, is expected to explore broader cooperation in energy and cultural exchange, reinforcing ties between the South Caucasus region and Southeast Asia.

Roderick Bruce Brazier was welcomed as Australia’s new ambassador. As a key strategic partner of Indonesia, Australia is set to continue its collaboration on issues ranging from climate change to counterterrorism and trade.
