ANKARA, RAKYAT NEWS – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver a speech before the Turkish Parliament in Ankara on Thursday afternoon, local time. April 10, 2025.

This marks a key moment in his official state visit to Turkey, strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The parliamentary address will be President Prabowo’s first official agenda in Ankara, followed by a state visit to the Turkish Presidential Palace. There, he will be welcomed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in an official ceremony.

The two leaders will hold a private meeting before leading a bilateral discussion between Indonesian and Turkish government delegations. Several memoranda of understanding on cooperation are expected to be signed, covering economic, technological and cultural sectors.

President Prabowo is accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Higher Education and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, and Culture Minister Fadli Zon.

President Prabowo arrived at Esenboğa International Airport on Wednesday evening, where he was personally greeted by President Erdoğan. A military honor guard ceremony was held in his honor, underscoring the close relations between Indonesia and Turkey.

Turkey is the second stop on President Prabowo’s regional tour, following his visit to the United Arab Emirates. After Ankara, he will proceed to Egypt, Qatar and Jordan, focusing on strategic partnerships and regional peace efforts.

The visit highlights Indonesia’s commitment to deepening ties with Turkey, particularly in trade, defense and education. Analysts suggest the discussions may also address global issues, including the Gaza conflict and economic cooperation.

Ahead of his speech, President Prabowo met with Indonesian students in Ankara, thanking them for their warm welcome. His engagement with the Turkish Parliament is seen as a significant opportunity to promote Indonesia’s foreign policy priorities.
