JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – The sudden appearance of a new airline, Indonesia Airlines, has sparked discussions in Indonesia’s aviation sector. The Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA) has responded to the buzz, clarifying its role in the matter. INACA Chairman Denon Prawiraatmadja emphasized that the association has no authority to comment on the airline’s ownership or operations, despite rumors about its leadership.

Denon stated, “In aviation, the most critical aspect is obtaining the necessary permits from the Ministry of Transportation. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation handles these approvals, and ultimately, the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, must sign off.” He made these remarks during a conversation with CNN Indonesia

Denon further clarified that INACA’s role is limited to being an industry association, and there is no obligation for new airlines to join. He noted that Indonesia Airlines would need to complete all regulatory processes with the Ministry of Transportation before any official public announcement.

Indonesia Airlines, registered under PT Indonesia Airlines Group, reportedly emerged after consultations with aviation consultants from Singapore and the United States. The airline is a subsidiary of Calypte Holding Pte. Ltd, a Singapore-based company with interests in renewable energy, aviation, and agriculture. The CEO of Indonesia Airlines, Iskandar, is said to be from Aceh and has a background in banking and energy, rather than aviation.

However, the Acting Director General of Civil Aviation, Lukman F. Laisa, confirmed that no licensing applications or operational requests from Indonesia Airlines have been submitted to the Ministry of Transportation. “As of now, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has not received any formal submissions regarding the establishment or operation of this scheduled commercial airline,” Lukman stated in an official release.
