Bank Mandiri Launches MANDIRI REMIT App to Improve Cross-Border Transfers for Indonesian Overseas Workers
JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Bank Mandiri, through its subsidiary Mandiri International Remittance Sdn Bhd (MIR), is further solidifying its commitment to providing inclusive financial services for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in Malaysia.
In line with this effort, MIR has launched an innovative mobile app, MANDIRI REMIT, in the second half of 2024, designed to make cross-border money transfers more efficient, secure, and cost-effective.
The MANDIRI REMIT app allows migrant workers to easily send funds from Malaysia to Indonesia, as well as to nine other countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, India, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
The app offers affordable transaction fees and competitive exchange rates, making it an ideal solution for the growing financial needs of the Indonesian migrant worker community.
Fitri Wahyu Adihartati, President Director of MIR, emphasized that the company has been licensed by Bank Negara Malaysia since 2009 and has managed over 100,000 customer accounts, the majority of which belong to PMI in Malaysia.
With the launch of MANDIRI REMIT, customers can benefit from low administrative fees and favorable transfer rates, making the service more accessible for migrant workers.
In 2024, MIR saw a significant increase in the frequency of transactions, which rose by 8.9% year on year (YoY), reaching more than 80,000 transactions. Additionally, the volume of remittance transactions grew by 17.2% YoY.
According to Fitri, MANDIRI REMIT aims to enhance the overall transaction experience for migrant workers and support their financial management.
Beyond facilitating remittance transfers, MIR is also focused on empowering Indonesian migrant workers through its Mandiri Sahabatku program.
