JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – A new chapter begins for Indonesia’s national football team with Patrick Kluivert appointed as head coach. To enhance the team’s strategy and growth, Kluivert has enlisted two highly experienced Dutch coaches, Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, as assistant coaches. Their expertise promises to elevate the Garuda team’s performance on the international stage.

Alex Pastoor, born in Amsterdam on October 26, 1966, is renowned for his success in helping smaller teams rise through the ranks of Dutch football. Beginning his coaching career in 2001 with the U-19 team of AZ Alkmaar, he quickly transitioned to senior coaching, taking charge of AFC’34 in 2005. Pastoor gained widespread recognition in 2010 when he led Excelsior to promotion to the Eredivisie and repeated the feat with Sparta Rotterdam in 2015-2016.

His ability to read team dynamics and devise effective strategies, especially in high-pressure environments, will be invaluable for Kluivert’s staff. Pastoor’s proven track record in team promotions and development is expected to be instrumental in improving the overall competitiveness of the Indonesian squad.

Denny Landzaat, born May 6, 1976, in Amsterdam, is celebrated for his distinguished career as a top-tier footballer, playing for major clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, AZ Alkmaar, and the Dutch national team. After retiring as a player, Landzaat transitioned into coaching, focusing on youth teams. Between 2014 and 2018, he managed AZ Alkmaar’s U-17 and U-21 teams, developing young talent and refining their skills.

In 2024, Landzaat joined Ferencvaros as an assistant coach. His extensive international experience as both a player and coach will provide the Indonesia national team with the mental resilience and technical expertise needed for higher-level competition. His familiarity with Indonesian culture and language is another significant asset for his role.
