JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – TBS Energi Utama Tbk (TOBA), a company affiliated with renowned entrepreneur and investor Pandu Sjahrir, has officially completed the acquisition of 100% of Sembcorp Environment Pte. Ltd. The acquisition, valued at S$405 million (approximately IDR 4.77 trillion), was finalized through an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) held on December 20, 2024, in Jakarta.

This acquisition, which was concluded on November 8, 2024, through TOBA’s subsidiary, SBT Investment 2 Pte. Ltd., marks a significant milestone for the company.

TBS Energi’s management, led by Director Juli Oktarina, emphasized that this strategic investment in Sembcorp Environment, a leading player in waste management, aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability and circular economy principles.

According to Juli Oktarina, Sembcorp Environment’s integrated waste management platform, which also generates energy from waste, plays a key role in supporting sustainable waste management solutions.

“This acquisition is in line with TBS’ sustainability aspirations and will be crucial in improving waste management capabilities in Indonesia through technology transfer and innovation,” he said in a statement on Friday.

The acquisition is also part of TBS’ ongoing expansion strategy, which includes the integration of Asia Medical Enviro Services Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and ARAH Environmental Group in Indonesia.

These combined entities create a regional waste management platform that covers medical, industrial, and domestic waste, with over 5,000 collection points and more than 15,000 tons of waste processed annually.

Vice President Director of TBS Energi, Pandu Sjahrir, described the acquisition as a pivotal step towards realizing TBS’ 2030 sustainability goals, which include achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. He stressed that optimizing Sembcorp Environment’s platform will promote sustainable innovation and create tangible benefits for the communities they serve.
