Indonesian Nationals from NTB Among First Wave of Evacuations from Syria
Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria, the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus issued a Level 1 alert for the entire country on December 7, 2024. The embassy has been working closely with relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the safety of its nationals. These measures include updating contingency plans, coordinating evacuation routes, and conducting hybrid meetings with Indonesian citizens in Syria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus continue to collect data from those wishing to participate in the evacuation. The Ministry has advised Indonesians in Syria to remain vigilant, avoid high-risk areas, and minimize unnecessary movement. They have also encouraged citizens to maintain communication with the embassy. Families in Indonesia with relatives in Syria can contact the Ministry’s Protection Directorate at +6281290070027 for further assistance. (Uki Ruknuddin)
