AirAsia Backs Government’s Move to Lower Domestic Flight Prices for Holiday Season
JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – AirAsia Indonesia has announced its support for the Indonesian government’s initiative to reduce domestic flight ticket prices during the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year holiday period.
This price reduction, effective from December 19, 2024, to January 3, 2025, aims to make air travel more affordable for the public, especially during a time when many people are traveling for the holidays.
Veranita Yosephine, CEO of AirAsia Indonesia, expressed the airline’s full commitment to the government’s policy. She emphasized that making air transportation more accessible is crucial for supporting both the public’s mobility and the recovery of the domestic tourism sector. By reducing the cost of flights, AirAsia aims to contribute to these broader national goals.
The government’s target is to reduce flight ticket prices by approximately 10%. This reduction will affect various components of the ticket, including the fuel surcharge, passenger services, landing fees, and other associated costs. AirAsia fully supports this goal and has worked to implement measures that help reduce prices for travelers while maintaining a high standard of service.
AirAsia is committed to ensuring that the price reductions do not come at the expense of flight safety or passenger comfort. The airline has reassured its customers that it will continue to prioritize safety, adhering to all operational safety standards set by international aviation bodies such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
In addition to supporting the price reductions, AirAsia also welcomed the cooperation with other stakeholders in the aviation and tourism industries. The airline believes that strong collaboration between various parties will help ensure the smooth implementation of this policy, ultimately benefiting both travelers and the wider economy.
This policy is seen as a key effort to boost domestic tourism, which has been an essential part of Indonesia’s post-pandemic economic recovery. With the reduced ticket prices, more Indonesians will be able to travel within the country, supporting tourism businesses and promoting economic growth in the region.
The airline is optimistic that the ticket price reductions will also encourage people to take vacations during the holiday season, further stimulating demand for domestic flights. AirAsia has highlighted the importance of making air travel accessible and affordable during key holiday periods when travel demand is typically high.
AirAsia remains dedicated to delivering affordable air travel options while maintaining the highest standards of service and safety. The airline’s collaboration with the government and other industry stakeholders is expected to have a positive impact on both the aviation sector and the broader Indonesian economy. (Uki Ruknuddin)
