JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, expressed confidence that the growing partnership between Indonesia and China would serve as a cornerstone for global stability amid increasing uncertainties in the international landscape. During his welcoming speech at the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta on November 29, 2024, Ambassador Wang highlighted the importance of strengthening both bilateral and global cooperation to safeguard shared interests, particularly for developing countries.

“We aim to enhance our friendship and promote cooperation not only for the benefit of developing nations but also to provide stability and certainty to the world,” Ambassador Wang remarked. He stressed that both Indonesia and China, as Global South nations, have reached the highest level of diplomatic engagement under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and President Xi Jinping.

Ambassador Wang emphasized the recent joint statement made during Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Beijing in early November 2024, which aimed to further elevate the strategic and comprehensive partnership between the two countries. The agreement covers vital sectors such as politics, economy, culture, maritime affairs, and security.

The partnership, according to Wang, forms a strong foundation for deepening bilateral cooperation that has already been established and will continue to grow. “Minister Prabowo’s visit is a catalyst for expanding China-Indonesia cooperation, ushering in a new era of building a shared community with common goals in both regional and global influence,” Wang added.

As part of his duties, Ambassador Wang expressed his commitment to acting as a bridge not only between the governments of China and Indonesia but also between their peoples and businesses. He vowed to foster improved communication and bilateral relations in order to promote prosperity and well-being for both nations.

Ambassador Wang, who officially began his tenure after presenting his letter of credence to President Prabowo on November 4, 2024, described Indonesia as a great country with a rich culture and remarkable hospitality. “We are writing a new chapter in our bilateral relations, and I am proud to be a part of it,” he declared during his first meeting with President Prabowo.

Indonesia and China have a long history of cooperation, and the appointment of Ambassador Wang is seen as a pivotal moment in further strengthening the ties between the two nations. Both countries are committed to continuing their collaboration for mutual benefit, with an emphasis on creating lasting stability in the region and globally.

The ambassador’s visit and the discussions surrounding the deepening of Sino-Indonesian ties are expected to pave the way for more fruitful collaborations in various sectors, benefiting both nations and contributing to global peace and prosperity. (Uki Ruknuddin)
