JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS– The Indonesia’s state-owned mining holding company (MIND ID) is enhancing its downstream processing capabilities through automation, digitalization, innovation.

The initiative aims to maximize the value-added benefits of the country’s mining sector.

Heri Yusuf, Corporate Secretary of MIND ID, stated that the company’s efforts are comprehensive, focusing on implementing digital transformation to boost production, efficiency, and risk management. MIND ID is integrating advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and robotics across its member companies, including PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium, PT Timah Tbk, and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk.

Remote-controlled machinery and vehicles are increasingly common, equipped with sensors to help operators identify mineral deposits and manage field risks.

Technology aids in recommending maintenance schedules, ensuring that mining, refining, and mineral processing operations remain optimal.

“Digital transformation is being progressively implemented to enhance the entire mining and mineral processing chain. This effort is intended to achieve optimal and efficient operational activities,” Yusuf said.

A notable example is PT Freeport Indonesia’s adoption of smart mining technologies. Freeport is at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies, such as 5G, AI, machine learning, and robotics, into its mining operations. Its joystick-controlled mining trucks exemplify significant advancements in operational efficiency and worker safety.

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SEO) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo praised the progress made by SOE, particularly MIND ID, in adopting digital solutions to improve operational efficiency. He highlighted that these strategies offer substantial benefits for the sustainability of the mining sector.
