Motorcycle Accident in Semarang Results in Deaths of Malagasy and Rwandan Students
JAVA, RAKYAT NEWS– Two foreign students were killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident early Saturday morning on Dr. Wahidin Street, Semarang, Central Java. Indonesia
According to Semarang’s Chief of Police, Commissioner Irwan Anwar, the victims were identified as Christophe Rahelison Jean, a 25-year-old student from Madagascar, who was the motorcycle rider, and Jean De Dieu Muhayimana, a 32-year-old student from Rwanda, who was the passenger.
Both individuals suffered severe head injuries and were taken to the Kariadi Hospital’s morgue for further examination.
Witnesses reported that the accident occurred when the victims, riding a Honda Beat with license plate B 3908 UJN, lost control while traveling south. The motorcycle collided with a sidewalk and a telephone pole.
Reports indicate that the victims were part of an exchange program at Diponegoro University in Semarang. The police are coordinating with the university and the respective embassies for the repatriation of the bodies. (Uki Ruknuddin)
