MAKASSAR, RAKYAT NEWS- President Joko Widodo inaugurated a hospital in Makassar, located within the Center Point of Indonesia (CPI) complex. 6 September 2024

The ceremony was marked by President Jokowi pressing the siren button, accompanied by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Acting South Sulawesi Governor Prof. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, and Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto.

Mayor Pomanto hailed the new hospital as a pivotal addition to Makassar’s status as a leading healthcare destination.

He described the hospital as one of the premier healthcare facilities in Indonesia, featuring international-standard amenities that will enable local residents to receive world-class medical care without the need to travel abroad.

President Jokowi underscored that the construction of the hospital is part of the government’s broader commitment to advancing not only infrastructure projects like toll roads and ports but also healthcare services. The hospital, with its 12 floors and four towers, boasts cutting-edge medical technology and facilities.

Jokowi also highlighted that the hospital will serve as a critical healthcare hub for Eastern Indonesia, reducing the necessity for patients to seek treatment overseas. The facility is expected to offer comprehensive care with the latest advancements in medical technology.

In a related development, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) supported the opening of the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) Building at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital in Makassar on the same day.

The inauguration, attended by President Jokowi and parlemen member Aliyah Mustika, saw IDB contribute approximately Rp460 billion for construction and Rp239 billion for medical equipment, with the hospital adding Rp47 billion for supplementary support.
