JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS — The Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, met with 11 Bit Studios, a leading game developer and publisher from Poland valued at $400 million.

During the meeting, Uno expressed Indonesia’s interest in collaborating to advance the country’s gaming industry. He proposed facilitating business meetings with Indonesian partners and exploring various forms of cooperation, including joint publications, art and porting, services, co-development, and sharing best practices.

“Given their 14 years of experience in the gaming industry, 11 Bit Studios’ advanced graphics and modern aesthetic, combined with cultural values, present an opportunity for learning and collaboration. Their experience could serve as a reference and provide expertise to help elevate Indonesia’s gaming sector,” Uno stated.

Uno highlighted similarities between 11 Bit Studios’ approach and Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage. He noted that the studio’s games, such as “Coral Island” and “A Space for the Unbound,” which feature themes related to Indonesian culture and environment, align with Indonesia’s diverse cultural narratives.

One notable game developed by 11 Bit Studios is “Frostpunk,” which draws on historical events such as the volcanic eruptions of Krakatau and Tambora.

The game, which sold over 250,000 copies within its first three days and won Best Visuals at the Australian Game Awards, exemplifies the kind of impactful storytelling that could resonate with Indonesian audiences.

“I hope we can invest and collaborate with Indonesian games that fit our vision to achieve international success,” Uno added.( Uki Ruknuddin)
