MAKASSAR, RAKYAT NEWS – In a significant move to drive economic growth in South Sulawesi (SS), PT Sulsel Citra Indonesia (PT SCI Perseroda) and PT Humpuss have entered into a strategic partnership. The agreement, formalized during a ceremony attended by Acting Governor Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, aims to unlock Sulsel’s economic potential through targeted investments across four critical sectors.

“Perseroda” is a term used in Indonesia to refer to a state-owned company (Badan Usaha Milik Daerah, BUMD) that operates at the provincial level. The term combines “Persero,” indicating a type of limited liability company, and “daerah,” meaning regional or local. These companies are established by regional governments to manage and develop local resources, assets, and businesses, aiming to support regional economic growth and generate revenue for the local government.

PT. Humpuss is an Indonesian company primarily involved in the energy and logistics sectors. Established in 1988, it operates in various fields, including oil and gas transportation, petrochemical refining, and infrastructure development. PT Humpuss is known for its involvement in the development and management of refineries, petrochemical plants, and maritime services. Its diverse portfolio reflects its role in supporting Indonesia’s energy sector and infrastructure development.
The collaboration focuses on enhancing the region’s economic landscape by addressing key areas: water resources, energy, port infrastructure, and agribusiness. The partnership seeks to address regional development needs by leveraging PT Humpuss’s experience and PT SCI’s local expertise on water resources, energy, port Infrastructure, agribusiness.

“The collaboration will bolster the Sulawesi Palm Oil Belt program. This involves the development of palm oil mills, cultivation of palm oil, and expansion into horticulture, aiming to boost the agricultural sector,”

Acting Governor Zudan Arif emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting that it will stimulate job creation and economic activity in Sulsel.

“Our goal is to create employment opportunities and leverage Sulsel’s potential in key sectors. This collaboration with PT Humpuss and PT SCI represents a significant step forward in achieving that goal,” he stated.

Andi Alifwansyah, Executive Director of PT Humpuss, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s impact. “We are excited about this opportunity to work with PT SCI. Our expertise in energy and infrastructure will support this initiative and contribute to lasting economic benefits for the region,” he said.

PT Humpuss, known for its experience in energy and infrastructure projects, including refinery management and maritime services, will bring its extensive knowledge to this partnership. On the other hand, PT SCI, as a regional state-owned enterprise, is committed to professional management and enhancing local revenue through various development projects.

Machmud Achmad, Acting President Director of PT SCI, highlighted the company’s dedication to regional development. “Our aim is to enhance community income and positively impact Sulsel’s regional revenue. We are fully committed to achieving these goals through this partnership,” he added.

The agreement between PT SCI and PT Humpuss is expected to drive economic growth, create job opportunities, and pave the way for further collaborative ventures.
