BEIJING, RAKYAT NEWS – The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing played a crucial role in facilitating the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT Krakatau Steel, a state-owned enterprise, and two Chinese steel companies: Jingye Group and Zheshang Development Group (ZSD Group).

Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “I welcome the cooperation between PT Krakatau Steel and Jingye Group, as well as ZSD Group, and look forward to tangible outcomes from these agreements,” he stated. The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on Friday.

Ambassador Djauhari emphasized that the collaboration underscores the Indonesian representation’s commitment to fostering business-to-business relations between Indonesia and China. He noted the growing bilateral economic ties and the need for these partnerships to be reflected in trade and investment values between the two nations.

Akbar Djohan, Commercial Director of Krakatau Steel, highlighted that these agreements are part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance the national manufacturing ecosystem. “This initiative not only aims to expand existing cooperation beyond mere buying and selling but also to build a robust steel and value-added product industry in Indonesia,” he said.

Jingye Group, based in Hebei Province, specializes in steel processing, international trade, metallurgy, and 3D printing. ZSD Group focuses on trading and investing in iron, steel, coke, and coking coal.

The agreements cover raw material supply, utilization of Krakatau Steel’s facilities, joint operations, and the development of products, technology, and facilities in steel production.
