Powering Tomorrow: Pertamina Teams Up with Siemens Energy for Sustainable Energy Transition
JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS— The Indonesian Giant company Pertamina has announced a strategic collaboration with Siemens Energy to accelerate Indonesia’s transition to a sustainable and affordable energy future.

The collaboration, formalized through an MoU signed in Jakarta, outlines business opportunities and potential collaborations for technology acceleration. The MoU was signed by Salyadi Saputra and Thorbjörn Fors, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Siemens Energy Asia Pacific.
“This partnership is a commitment by both companies to sustainability, innovation, and energy advancement,” Salyadi added.
He emphasized that this collaboration is more than just a strategic alliance. It represents a synergy of expertise, resources, and collective efforts to address the energy trilemma: ensuring energy that is secure, sustainable, and affordable for current and future generations.
The collaboration reflects the integration of energy and technology companies to generate innovative technologies. It also creates added value for stakeholders, communities, and the environment.
“We will leverage the potential of renewable energy resources as part of the energy transition while simultaneously driving economic growth,” Salyadi explained.

Andilo Harahap, Managing Director of Siemens Energy Indonesia, added that this collaboration represents the beginning of a shared vision.

The MoU includes three key programs. The first is Power-to-X technology, an innovative method for producing and storing renewable energy. The second is utilizing waste heat from upstream water processes to improve energy efficiency and sustainability. The third program is decarbonizing the maritime sector to monitor and manage carbon emissions in the industry.
Oki Muraza, SVP of Research & Technology Innovation at Pertamina, emphasized that utilizing this advanced heat technology from Siemens Energy is a significant leap forward. It will enhance the efficiency of upstream operations while reducing carbon footprints, contributing to the circular economy within the energy sector.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, highlighted that Pertamina is collaborating with various business partners, government agencies, and academics to develop sustainable energy potential and efforts toward decarbonization.
This collaboration is expected to support Pertamina’s role in maintaining national energy security while achieving Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target.
