JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS- The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has disclosed the resolution of 1,546 criminal cases from July 19 to 26, 2024, spanning a range of offenses including gambling and human trafficking.

Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Polri Public Information Bureau, reported in Jakarta that the cases included drug offenses, gambling, human trafficking, public disorder, petty crimes, sexual assault, molestation, illegal weapons possession, murder, and theft.

The breakdown of cases revealed 178 drug-related incidents, 38 gambling cases (both online and conventional), 17 cases of sexual assault, 31 cases of molestation, 30 cases involving illegal weapons, and four cases of human trafficking. Additionally, 325 petty crime cases were reported.

Notable cases include 30 murders, 37 ordinary thefts, 36 aggravated thefts, and 17 cases of violent theft. Other cases highlighted were 67 instances of assault, one case of illegal logging, two cases of illegal mining, and one case of illegal drilling.

The police also reported resolving 50 motor vehicle thefts, eight cases involving alcoholic beverages, and seven cases of dead body discoveries. Other incidents included three fires, five cases of vandalism, two fiduciary fraud cases, 35 traffic accidents, and 500 traffic warnings.

Further details include one case of counterfeit money, 14 instances of assault, and five cases of domestic violence.

Earlier, the Polri’s General Crimes Directorate (Dittipidum) revealed a human trafficking case involving the exploitation of Indonesian nationals in Australia. This case, part of “Operation Mirani,” resulted from collaboration between Polri and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, Director of General Crimes, announced the arrest of two suspects: FLA, who recruited victims and arranged their visas and tickets to Sydney, and SS alias Batman, who coordinated operations at various Sydney brothels. (Uki Ruknuddin)
