LUWU, RAKYAT NEWS– Vale Indonesia has stepped up its support for communities in Luwu regency devastated by recent landslides. In addition to providing food and medical supplies, the company is deploying heavy machinery to clear roads blocked by debris, greatly benefiting affected residents.

Zainuddin, head of Malappa hamlet in Puringan village, expressed deep gratitude for Vale’s efforts to clear the obstructed roads. “Previously, we had to walk 10 kilometers to reach aid distribution points. There was only one instance of aid being delivered by helicopter since the landslide occurred,” he explained.

The reopening of roads has not only facilitated the distribution of essential supplies but also allowed children to return to school. Students had been unable to attend classes due to the blocked roads.

“Currently, motorcycles can pass through, although the road is not fully accessible yet. We hope the road will be fully restored soon,” Zainuddin added.

Endra Kusuma, Vale’s Director of External Relations, revealed that the company had dispatched two heavy machines and one dump truck from Sorowako to Luwu.
